ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

Stagnant Stories is a solo exhibition by Martín Kazanietz in which he presents, based on the development of a kinetic sculpture that emulates the old reels of analogue cameras, a series of paintings that run in their temporality between a past that no longer exists and the overwhelming present that is upon us.

The works that the device projects - and that also inhabit the walls of the room - are little timeless stories of daily domestic scenes, clippings of images that inhabit the streets of any city, Images of everyday life, indispensable figurines of an exhausted urbanity .

ABOUT MARTIN KAZANIETZ

Martin Kazanietz was born in Buenos Aires in 1985. He studied design at the UBA and trained as a painter in the street between graffiti and murals. Today he dedicates his time almost exclusively to workshop practice.

His work has been mostly devoted to portraying the culture of amateur soccer. He paints settings, scenes, details and clippings that explore the ritual, the popular, the tribal and the everyday football associated with the "B side" of industrialized sport.

His works, with strong references to naive or folk paintings, are mostly paintings, but also appear in the form of flags, pennants, trophies, or intervened shirts.

Everything serves as a great excuse to reflect on the construction and staging of identities. He is currently developing a new body of work that explores the conflicting link we have with the accumulation of images on our mobile devices.

He has participated in group and solo exhibitions in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Brussels, Buenos Aires, Madrid and Barcelona, among other cities.
